About our shows. . .

Until It’s Over Over There

Audiences for these programs become the audiences for the dramatic productions that re-crate live broadcasts of Armed Forces Radio broadcasts. “Until It’s Over Over There” re-creates a World War II home-front radio show in a way reminiscent of Glenn Miller’s “I Sustain the Wing” broadcast or Bob Hope’s show “Command Performance.” The shows include music, letters from soldiers, and period ad spots. In fact, the show was written as though it was the replacement of Capt. Glenn Miller’s show following his deployment to Europe.

Currently there are six hour-long shows that comprise the “Until It’s Over Over There” series. Each one utilizes the same format. Individual shows -- which are more fully described on the “About the Shows” page -- take place between June of 1944, when Capt. Glenn Miller signed off from his weekly time slot in order to take his program to England, and September of 1945, a month following the end of the global conflict.

★★★

G.I. Jive

“G.I. Jive” is an adaptation of “Until It’s Over Over There” geared specifically for elementary school students. It has less music but is equally as entertaining -- and more informative. An interactive experience, it includes speaking parts for six kids. Audiences come away with a better understanding not only of World War II, but also about life in the 1940s in general.
